One of Kleinburg’s oldest structures, on flower-bedecked Islington Avenue, the 180-year-old McNeil House is a yellow Georgian clapboard beauty. Its two second-floor suites, each one supplied with a complimentary bottle of wine, are especially suitable for wedding nights. The old wood beams and panelling nod to the past; the spacious open shower and double whirlpool tub offer modern luxury. During the day, proprietor Geri Harper (an interior designer and chef) often teaches cooking classes. She also delivers the morning paper to guests, along with coffee, tea, juice and freshly baked cookies. This is followed by a lavish breakfast—homemade vanilla-honey yogurt, fresh berries, quiche, sausages and biscuits. The McMichael Canadian Art Collection is a 15-minute walk away.
