The four ground-level suites at this 19th-century Midland home are stuffed with amenities: each has a double Jacuzzi tub, electric fireplace, sitting area and ensuite bathroom. One of the few B&Bs in Ontario to earn a three-diamond CAA/AAA rating, it still possesses some family-run charm. The guest lounge is piled high with games, videos, books and magazines; antiques include an elaborately carved Swiss sideboard; an ever-changing breakfast (perhaps apple crêpes, fresh fruit and home baking) is served at the pine harvest table. Binoculars and guidebooks are handy for birdwatchers, who get rich pickings in the English garden. Nature lovers head for Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre (705-526-7809), a Georgian Bay conservation area. The elegant Library restaurant (705-528-0100) is a 15-minute walk away.
