Just steps from Don Mills backyards is this pastoral paradise at Leslie and Lawrence. The legacy of businessman Rupert Edwards (who converted this 27-acre homestead farm into a garden and golf course) draws gardeners and walkers alike. Be sure to visit in spring, when its famous rhododendrons are in bloom. But there are year-round riches for flower enthusiasts, from the west-end arboretum (home to rose beds and shrub plantings) to the extensive rockery, which holds flaming junipers and Japanese maples. Next door is Raymond Moriyama’s distinctively designed Toronto Botanical Garden, which received a $7.7-million modern glass addition by David Sisam in 2006.
