Denaut Mansion Country Inn

Though this historic home is located in the sleepy Rideau Lakes village of Delta, it has a sophisticated ambience. That’s largely due to owners Mariska and Theo Kriebel, who bought the 1849 mansion three years ago. There is a sheen of modern luxury, including Aveda toiletries and quality linens. Locally sourced breakfast dishes are served in the windowed veranda and optional three-course prix fixe dinners are served in the dining room on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. In town, explore the 1810 Old Stone Mill, now a national historic site. The Jones Falls lock station on nearby Rideau Canal is one of the highlights of the historic canal system. Rideau Valley is known for its antique-hunting opportunities, including Mainly Antiques (613-359-6324) in Elgin, and Rideau Antiques (613-283-6490) near Lombardy.
