Toronto’s First Post Office

  • 260 Adelaide St. E. (at George St.) View on map »
  • 416-865-1833

This cozy red-brick building hearkens back to a time of steam packets and pence. But it’s no snoozy museum: since December 15, 1983 (the 150th anniversary of the office’s opening), the building has been fully functional, although those wanting to perform complicated mailings might be better served at a modern outlet. However, it is the most aesthetically pleasing post office in the city, from its quaint reading room to the old-fashioned glass post office boxes.
