FoodTea

Ten Ren Tea & Ginseng Co.

Ten Ren’s look is chic apothecary meets high-end boutique. Floor-to-ceiling shelves are lined with glass jars, filled to the brim with loose teas. The tea sets are works of art: one set made of fine bone china and embellished with hand-painted suns sells for $450. Saleswomen are allies, offering samples of Eight Treasures Tea while providing a history of the health benefits of tea. A chrysanthemum-based brew is pleasantly floral and good for the eyes and skin (we’re told), but we will happily stick with a lychee slushie from Ten Ren’s takeout counter.
