Great Cooks on Eight and the Tea Spot are the beloved enterprises of Esther Benaim and Maggie McKeown. Both spots offer lunch, cooking classes, and many teas blended by Miriam Novalle, the Dalai Lama’s tea titan. At Great Cooks on Eight, Bay Street professionals peruse the Great Wall of Tea in a sunny space that offers spectacular views. Downstairs in the quirky basement café, staff members pair tea with dessert—a chocolate brownie and the caramel-infused Tibetan Tiger, perhaps.
