Sheung Thai Supermarket

This grocery is well-stocked with all things Asian, but it has a good selection of West Indian provisions as well. The produce section features wonderful greens and a variety of hard-to-find items: lotus root, winter melon, eddo, breadfruit and purple sweet potato. At the back, meats include several cuts of goat, pork and beef, plus oxtail and offal. Whole fish, including moonfish, kingfish and shark, are laid out on ice. Nearby, live blue crabs squirm in baskets. There are packaged and bottled spices and sauces. Bags of rice—Chinese white, calrose and jasmine—are piled high.
