Pat Loconte’s enthusiasm for Italian food is contagious and her pride for the house-made salamis, pancetta and sausages crafted by husband Joe is unmistakable. An island in a sea of grey strip plazas, the tiny storefront seems festive by comparison, festooned with fresh and lively produce: red tomatoes, yellow zucchini blossoms, and green peppers. Inside, the air is filled with homey aromas. Foodies come for the porchetta and cottagers stock up on all the essentials for a great weekend: breads, meats for the grill, cheeses and deli. Well-chosen bottled, dried and canned Italian staples, such as sun-dried cherry tomatoes in olive oil, unusual pastas, Sicilian honey, and dry-packed, salt-cured white anchovies, round out the stock.
