There was a gap in the cityscape at King and Spadina: with all these condos up and occupied, where was everyone buying their groceries? Enter Fresh and Wild, with a compact grocery store–café that supplies the needs and wants of busy downtowners. Very much an urban trove, this well-stocked shop gears everything toward a food-loving clientele that is pressed for time but demanding. So deli meats come pre-sliced and shingle-packed; fresh meats are marinated; rotisserie chickens are butchered and matched with starch and veg for an easy meal; produce is all carefully hand-picked, so customers needn’t waste time rifling through a pile of less-than-perfect plums.
