Lunch and tea are unhurried pleasures in this charming café–gourmet food shop, but don’t forget to stock up on take-home goods. Chef-owner Nina Jurkojc keeps her shelves loaded with top-notch pantry basics, from the locally produced Tasteworks line of curry spices and chai tea to premium dried pastas by Rustichella d’Abruzzo. Fresh and frozen pasta and sauces are weeknight lifesavers. Takeout lasagnas come by the piece or pan; quiche, salads and desserts are quick and flavourful. Nina’s signature dish, a decadent chocolate bread pudding, is highly addictive, she says. “Some of my customers eat it for breakfast.”
