Two glass showcases display tempting Indian treats, from pink and white barfis (which are rectangular-shaped sweets made from thickened condensed milk) to bright orange ladoos and gram flour balls. But the real stars at this store are the delectable rasmalai, delicate Bengali mishti or sweet snacks made from fresh cottage cheese, pistachios, saffron and rosewater. A wide variety of North Indian favourites are also available for takeout. Options include fixed meals (veg thali $5, non-veg $6): Kashmiri roganjosh ($6) is lamb cooked in yogurt; chole bhatura is spicy chickpea stew served with a fluffy fried bread and pani puri ($3), a delicious mix of chickpeas tamarind-spiced water and potatoes served in a crispy hollow dough shell.
