Homemade sweets delight customers, many of whom are Iranian expats, just like the shop’s owners. Baghlava is different from the Greek incarnation: it’s nuttier, less syrupy-sweet and redolent of cardamom. Don’t miss the ambrosial cream horns, tightly coiled puff pastry filled with fresh whipped cream, or the macaroons in three varieties: almond, walnut and coconut. Imported nuts and dried fruits are available in bulk, including roasted, spiced pumpkin seeds, watermelon seeds, dried mulberries, fleshy Medjool dates, and dried, salted sour cherries. A selection of herbs, teas, oils and preserves offers some foodie finds, including bottles of lavender water and more than 20 varieties of honey from as far afield as Spain, Tasmania and New Zealand.
