A crowd always seems to be gathered around the counter, peering at the gorgeous cakes and drooling over the plates of gooey squares and tempting fruit pies, crumbles, butter tarts and macaroons. Owner Janet Schreiber does a roaring business. It all began years ago, out of her own kitchen, and she hasn’t forgotten the needs of the home cook. Curds, frostings and cookie doughs, tubs of caramel sauce, and party supplies are also for sale.
