Owner Mary Falinski has trouble keeping up with the demand for her old-fashioned, homestyle baking. She makes croissants, date squares and butter tarts on-site daily, and also offers a good selection of all-natural whole grain and sourdough breads. But it is definitely her pies that take the cake: best-sellers include banana cream, raisin, and sweet potato (the latter is only available around Thanksgiving and Christmas, or by special request). Her elaborately decorated cakes—chocolate tortes, cheesecakes and white chocolate mousse cakes—are crowd-pleasers. In addition to the delicious sweet stuff, this bright and airy shop offers a variety of jams, vinegars and olive oils, along with specialty teas. A small café serves breakfast and lunch: popular daily soup choices include minestrone and sweet potato–pear.
