This inviting shop elicits sighs of delight from first-time visitors. Old-fashioned glass jars of macaroons and crispy phyllo praline cigars make you feel like a kid in a (sophisticated) candy store. Pâtissière Kyla Eaglesham opened her shop three years ago (though she has been planning it since she won her first pie-baking contest at the age of six) and offers big treats such as fruit pies and charlottes alongside the little sweets. Kawartha Dairy’s exceptional ice cream is yet another draw; flavours frequently get incorporated into desserts, such as the tiramisù ice cream charlotte. Madeleines also has a few tables where customers can sit down with a cup of tea and a chocolate brownie. Drop by for weekend brunch in the summer. Closed Monday.
