With exquisite pastries displayed like precious gems, it’s no wonder this space used to belong to a jeweller. Owner Lesia Kohut treads softly on the planet, powering the shop with Bullfrog and sourcing all-natural, mostly organic ingredients. Half of her creations are vegan or gluten-free, though you would never guess it biting into a decadent slice of coconut-lime cake. Fans of her savoury Chèvre Noir shortbread—and there are many—include former Gourmet editor-in-chief Ruth Reichl. Handcrafted truffles include Orange Fire, a square of orange and chili-infused bittersweet ganache enrobed in white chocolate. Whimsical custom wedding cakes look like they came from the mind of Dr. Seuss.
