European émigrés flock to Konditor, and no wonder: it feels just like an authentic Austrian kaffeehaus. Run by Austrian-born pastry chef Burgi Riegler and her business partner, Benedetta Stellino, it sells classics such as sachertorte (Riegler learned how to make it while working at Vienna’s Hotel Sacher) and apple strudel (Riegler trained with world champion strudel-maker Heinrich Wittmann). Savoury dishes—schnitzel sandwiches, quiche, fresh breads and salads—are available. Other offerings include a house specialty, refreshing Wiener Eiskaffee (iced coffee with whipped cream and ice cream) and stollen at Christmas. The duo also offers catering. Closed Monday.
