The pita and baklava are legendary. Now meet the exquisite house-made labneh, a pressed yogurt laced with garlic and mint; stuffed grape leaves zinging with lemon; and pretty French pâtisseries, cheaper than others, but every bit as good. Jumbo pistachios alone are worth a visit. All manner of other Middle Eastern specialties line the shelves at Arz’s—from peerless Lebanese coffee to Middle Eastern cheeses, dried sausages and meats. At the back of the store lies a large fresh fruit and vegetable department.
