Lobster Island

What this quirky shop lacks in polish, it makes up for in quality: the aquariums are full of healthy-looking fish, molluscs and crustaceans. No surprise, then, that the shop’s main market is Toronto’s top Chinese and Japanese restaurants, where such delicacies as geoduck clams are peeled and eaten raw. The bulk of the sushi-grade tuna and salmon also goes to restaurants, but there’s always some on hand for DIY sushi chefs. And, as the name suggests, this is the place to come for lobster: you might land a 10-pound Nova Scotian beauty or a live Alaskan king crab, depending on the season.
