With the growing success of her adjoining cooking school and eat-and-run-style café, Dish diva-in-charge Trish Magwood (who also heads up the company’s catering arm and stars in her own Food Network show) opted to refine the focus of her specialty retail boutique. Formerly a place to get everything but the kitchen sink when it comes to cooking utensils and party props, the new concept is more about kitchen essentials: spoons by Quebec brand Maplewear ($12–$18.50), rasps by Microplane ($19.95). Much of the grade-A inventory is used in Dish’s popular cooking classes, while a lazier sort will delight in the new line of Dish to Go products, a mix of ready-to-eat salads (such as lentil with feta and bacon, $5.50), and heat-and-serve specialties (shallot, bacon and gorgonzola quiche, $22), plus frozen fare.
