This foodie fixture caters to the city’s hosting elite. It offers bread (the city’s best), a connoisseur’s choice of cheese and prepared foods. In the bakery, loaves from Harbord, Ace, David’s and Thuet rub crusts with those from Manoucher and Fred’s. Homemade pastries, cookies and cakes tempt sweet tooths (try the brown sugar shortbread or pecan flan). Specialty condiments, sauces, and such delectables as Minus 8 Canadian wine vinegar make great hostess gifts. Prepared meals focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients—from barbecued maple pork back to leek-and-cheddar soufflé.
