This north Toronto shop carries a variety of foods and beauty products from back home, which here is as likely to mean the West Indies as West Africa. One part of the store holds dry goods, including seasonings, tropical juices and bright orange West Indian pepper sauce. The rest of the store consists of a produce section and meat counter. In just a few shelves, there’s a good selection of imported fruits and vegetables, including breadfruit, mango, okra, yams and fresh sugar cane. Several butchers work the meat counter, where fish, goat, chicken and pork are on offer alongside such specialty cuts as oxtail, burnt cow’s feet and chicken feet.
