Small and crowded, this bustling shop is a happy hub of all things Caribbean, from newspapers and Lifebuoy soap to such foodie finds as tiny green mangoes and menacing scotch bonnet peppers. Expats come for the homey tinned ackee and spice buns, but knowing chefs pick up frozen grated coconut, cassava and breadfruit, bags of sun-dried sorrel and true yams. Malt beverage pop and endless iterations of bottled hot sauce butt up against huge bags of dried black-eyed peas and moderate portions of salt cod (much more handy than buying the whole fish).
