As the gentrification of Leslieville gathers pace, good food shops are starting to dot the neighbourhood. This recent arrival is a popular addition. Days after opening in June, the tiny shop was filled with customers and local chefs keen to sample Michael Simpson’s goods. A display case holds such local artisanal beauties as Ewenity feta, but there is also an array of basics (gruyère, cheddar). Cheese appreciation classes are taught by expert Julia Rogers. Along with a small produce section, there is a well-chosen selection of groceries, from Lesley Stowe’s Raincoast Crisps to Rustichella D’Abruzzo sauces and pasta.
