Heavily inked hipsters keep this coffee house buzzing from morning till night. From the gleaming La Marzocco come perfect espressos and pretty lattes pulled by expert baristas. Matthew Lee sources beans from two of North America’s premier roasters: Chicago’s Intelligentsia (the company one-ups fair trade by dealing directly with growers) and Vancouver’s Origins Organic Coffee. The chocolatey Black Cat Espresso is a popular blend, and the El Machete, a single-origin bean from Panama, sells out fast. Muffins are baked in-house, and tempting vegan cookies abound.
