Women in yoga gear, kids in bike helmets and shaggy-haired parents line up for coffee that’s serious but not stuffy. The scent of freshly ground coffee (mostly $13 to $15 a pound; premium beans can reach $42 a pound) fills the tiny room. The space exudes a quaint slacker vibe; witness the bike mounted on the wall, the trendy wallpaper, an ever-changing collection of concert posters and graphic prints, and indie music playing on the iPod dock. Super-friendly staff serve up espresso drinks, and there’s also good brewed coffee, including an excellent dark roast, at exceptional prices (small $1.50).
