In addition to homemade truffles in such flavours as wasabi, cardamom and green tea, this tiny confectionary dips just about everything but their cash register in chocolate—cashews, fortune cookies and Pringles, to name a few. Kitschy cocoa Canadiana includes loonies, ice wine truffles and chocolate moose droppings (chocolate-covered almonds). Fair-trade chocolate bars from Cioccolato Quetzal sit cheek to jowl with premium offerings from Dolphin and Swiss Delice. Jelly Belly beans, candy necklaces and Lucky Elephant Pink Popcorn offer a trip down memory lane. Real cricket lollipops are not just for entomologists: the scorpion version often sells out. Catering to the season, 17 flavours of Maypole Dairy ice cream are scooped in summer, while homemade hot chocolate is poured the rest of the year.
