The Village Butcher

In a working-class neighbourhood known as New Toronto, something new is happening: young, urbane couples are moving in and flocking to this decidedly upmarket shop. Fourth-generation butcher and owner Mark Ali is passionate about meat, and the focus of his pretty shop—mustard yellow walls and terra cotta tiles—is organic and free-range. Committed to local farmers, beef and pork comes from Kawartha Ecological Growers; house-made sausages and meat pies (goose and rabbit are among the selection) are exclusives. Berkshire pork bacon and ham are all natural.
