Knowledgeable servers and immaculate displays of meat, fish and packaged goods are the specialties at this 50-year-old Forest Hill favourite. Burger aficionados come for Nortown’s famous patties (beef and chicken), but the carnivore’s counter offers other impressive cuts—turkey or veal hot dogs, say, or peppercorn rib steaks. Nortown also prepares its own soups and salads and has a line of cookies, muffins and pies. Pickles, blintzes, sauerkraut, matzo balls and latkes cater to the ’hood’s Jewish residents.
