Talk about sensory overload: Ernesto Monte’s creations include bacon-wrapped prime rib in the butchery, cabernet sauvignon jelly in the dry goods section, and Scottish black or white pudding in the freezer. Meats are hormone- and antibiotic-free and as beautiful as can be: sausages are robust in flavour and texture, rosemary-marinated Cornish hens are plump, veal chops photo ready. The hot cart caters to lunchers with rotisserie chicken and pierogies; the freezer is a boon to reluctant cooks, stuffed with every kind of meat pie, quiche and lasagna imaginable.
