A butcher’s since 1929, this bustling shop with Old World charm—a quaint cashier’s booth, folk-art barnyard critters—is as much a neighbourhood hub as a place to pick up a steak. Quality and variety are key: local lamb and chicken, house-made sausages, naturally raised chicken and beef from Cumbrae’s, organic salmon from Ireland and low-sodium chicken stock. Seasonal specialties beckon: 20 types of marinating kebabs in summer; Cornish game hen come winter. Crown roasts and turducken are available by special order year-round. There are also grab-and-go birds, wings, ribs and fries for those not in the mood to cook.
