After working as master baker at Le Comptoir de Célestin, Parisian-born Marc Thobor and his wife, Sylvie, bought the shop, changed the name and moved it one door north. Now serving coffee and quiche to the midday crowd, the sunny spot greets patrons with a buttery aroma so intoxicating, it’s like a boozy hug from Edith Piaf. Baguettes and seven-grain bread are a specialty, and decadent almond croissants have Leaside atwitter. Scrumptious pastries include just about everything in the French canon, including the chestnut bûche de Noël. Homesick expats can stock up on such goodies as Les Comtes de Provence preserves and Suchard bonbons.
