Some say Leaside has enough bakeries, but this Australian chain is a welcome addition to the neighbourhood. On top of the traditional white, whole wheat and rye breads, there are several interesting alternatives. The moist Cape Seed loaf is a nutritious option: it is free of sugar, oil, dairy and preservatives, high in fibre, and contains a mix of nine grains and seeds. Apricot Delight is similarly worthy: made from unbleached white flour, it is chock full of currants, apricots and sultanas. But there’s plenty of sinful stuff, too: Cheesy Mite Scrolls, filled with Vegemite, offer a nod to Cobs’ origins. On the sweet side, delectable Blueberry Tea Time is a raisin-filled bread topped with blueberries and icing sugar.
