While the rest of Bayview is fast asleep, the bagel bakers at Bagel House are stoking wood fires and rolling out dough. Early risers arrive at 6 a.m. for a fresh cup of coffee and a hot, shiny bagel. The sesame and poppy seed flavours are still the most favoured, but there are a dozen other kinds to choose from, including low-fat Holy Whole Wheat. Tubs of cream cheese (plain, smoked salmon, chive and others) and deli slices are fillers, but bagels this good don’t really need fancy accoutrements.
