Toronto Island Canoe Club

Summer doesn’t get any more serene than messing about Toronto Island in a boat—and this century-old club makes it easy through its shared use of canoes. So grab a paddle and check out the Island’s tranquil set of lagoons and ponds, as well as its regatta course. Boats are given out to members only, though, and memberships go early (try May). Co-operatively run, the club offers camps and instruction for youth, but none for adults.

Where: Ward’s Island, 416-203-8977.

How much:
recreational membership $150 per year.
