Those looking for a cool pool party trick or just a really great workout need look no further than this unique Toronto Parks and Rec program. Instructors group wannabe Esther Williamses according to ability (beginners are welcome, provided they’re strong swimmers) and lead them through Synchro Canada’s Star Program of figures and propulsions (not unlike the figures and leaps of skating). By the end of the nine-week course, students are able to scull and kick and somersault with varying degrees of aquatic grace. More advanced students are challenged with increasingly difficult positions and formations. Participants can also compete at recreational competitions; a synchro showcase is performed each spring.
How much:
nine weekly classes $69 (registration required).
