Toronto’s first Pilates centre, this studio has grown into an industry: the gym proper sits across the hall from the headquarters of Merrithew Corporation, maker of Pilates equipment and DVDs, and trainer of instructors around the world. The studio is filled to the brim with every form of high-tech gear—Reformers, Cadillacs, chairs, barrels—and the 23 Stott Pilates–certified instructors (15 of them trainers for future instructors) sure know how to use them. An introductory session and five private lessons are strongly recommended before embarking on group classes. Instruction is demanding without being pushy.
How much:
introductory session $74; group classes $33 (equipment) and $15 (mat); semi-private lessons $43, private $74; package discounts available.
