In more ways than one, this private studio offers a very personal workout experience. It’s run out of the pleasant live-work loft of Sandra Brunner, a Stott-certified instructor. And her clients range from a 20-something Ironman triathlete to a septuagenarian recovering from hip replacement surgery. Clients who choose private training receive a customized program based on their fitness levels and individual goals—whether that’s improving their squash game or recovering from injury. “Pilates is about functional fitness, not hard bodies,” says the soft-spoken Brunner. Though housed in a converted century-old building with lofty ceilings, exposed brick and oversized windows, the tidy studio is equipped with all the latest Pilates gear. Small group classes are also offered.
How much:
private introductory session $50, 10 one-hour private sessions $600, group classes $12–$15.
