Body Matrix

An instructor for more than two decades, Vivian Nickels has developed training regimes for the Toronto casts and crews of The Lion King and Hairspray. Nickels works out of a tranquil, light-filled, apartment-like studio. She’s also one of the few people in Canada certified to teach Gyrotonics and Gyrokinesis—an intense full-body workout incorporating elements of yoga, ballet, swimming and gymnastics. As such, her studio also features the Gyrotonic tower, a free-standing unit comprising a series of wheels and weighted pulleys.
How much:
intensive mat classes (one month) $267.50; private consultation $90–$120.
