With a name like Full Blast, you expect a shiny, pumped-up gym on steroids. Instead, you get a tranquil loft space in an old shoe factory. But the character speaks volumes about the service. “The big selling point is that I only train one person at a time,” says owner Marshall Tully. A big guy with 230 pounds of muscle on his frame, Tully used to be small (150 pounds), so he can empathize with weaklings. And though some of his custom-made equipment is intimidating (such as the reverse hyper-extension machine), Tully also espouses back-to-basics weight training.
