Axé Capoeira Academy

Pronounced “ashay” and translating as “positive energy,” axé capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art characterized by dance-like kicks. Incorporating a holistic approach, the sport includes musical and spiritual elements. Part of a federation that has clubs in 18 countries, this branch of the academy is housed in a brand new space. Novices, who range in age from kids to boomers, start by learning the ginga, a basic dance step.

no initiation fee; children (ages five to 12) $55 per month, children in adult classes $85 per month; adults $125 per month, six months $600.
