Fitness & WellnessGyms: Racquet

Mayfair Racquet & Fitness Club

Though it’s best known for racquet sports, Mayfair offers one-stop fitness shopping. In addition to eight indoor tennis courts and 13 international squash courts (plus one doubles court), there’s a 14-metre indoor pool and a gym straight out of a science fiction movie. Set inside a cavernous arena, the space is scattered with a multitude of machines and centred around a podium with a bank of 12 TVs (each piece of equipment also has its own TV screen). Unlike many of its ilk, however, Mayfair doesn’t play blaring music—all members must use headphones. There are classes in Latin dance, Group Power, Pilates and yoga, two bars (juice and resto), and such practical stuff as a daycare centre.

How much:
initiation fee $900, monthly fee $107–$114, annual fee $1,194–$1,272.
