Fitness & WellnessGyms: Private

Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club

From the outside, it’s the picture of a traditional sporting club, with a cricket pitch on one side and a bowling lawn on the other. But this north Toronto landmark (founded in 1827) has morphed into a modern fitness facility for the whole family. It still plays to its strengths, with solid curling and skating programs, but an addition now houses a bright and airy fitness centre, as well as seven squash courts that frequently host international tourneys. The gym has free weights, and Cybex and cardio machines, plus two studios for spinning and other classes. Outside, there’s a 25-metre pool, two hard tennis courts and 11 Har-Tru courts (10 of which are bubbled in winter).

How much:
initiation fee $18,000; fitness fee $314 per year, plus annual dues $2,050.
