Yorkville Club

This swanky gym is so sleek it could double as a nightclub. Lighting is flattering, oval mirrors stud the walls, colour-coordinated floor mats and Swiss balls are scattered amid the gleaming machines, and the music is invigorating, not distracting. A full concierge service, sports medicine, shiatsu, acupuncture, chiropractor and massage therapy add to the vibe. A spinning classroom occupies the centre of the main space; some of the 70-plus cardio machines overlook Avenue Road. With a full 22-machine Cybex circuit, plus Hammer Strength and Life Fitness circuits, traffic flow is not a problem. Flat screen TVs are attached to every piece of cardio equipment. Lifecycle and StairMaster machines, bicycles, treadmills, rowers and elliptical machines round out the offerings. Classes cover the bases, from step and boxing to hot yoga and Bosu Cardio.
How much:
initiation fee $349, biweekly fee $69.50 (with one-year commitment, includes access to all scheduled classes); yoga passes and short-term memberships available.
