While its owner is also behind Bikes on Wheels, Curbside caters to a more design-savvy upscale Annex clientele. The shop deals exclusively in new bikes, with an emphasis on old-school European brands. It’s the exclusive Toronto dealer of Batavus, whose single-speed and three-speed step-through Blockbuster ($1,050) and Old Dutch ($750) models define city bike elegance. Award-winning Birdy folding bikes (from $1,124) are increasingly popular with commuters. Or pimp your current ride with a British-made leather Brooks saddle ($90–$500), which conforms naturally to your posterior. Other popular accessories include Sigg water bottles ($25–$40) in various sizes and innumerable colours and patterns, and a vast array of Freitag messenger bags ($150–$500), all made from recycled truck tarps. Out-of-towners enjoy free shipping on orders over $50.
