This College Street salon was owner Lily Setiawati’s destiny. Growing up in Indonesia, she spent her days hanging around her uncle’s hair shop, eager to try her hand at the trade. When Setiawati moved here to study colouring, she supported herself on $10 cuts in a Chinatown mall. Soon the lineup for her services was hours long, so she opened this neighbourhood favourite for expert services at very reasonable prices (cuts for men start at $35, from $45 for women). Colour is by Goldwell, Belavance and Matthew James, some of it mild enough for pregnant women and cancer patients. Staff at Lily are friendly and outgoing. Brazilian aesthetician Perla Porto is a dab hand with the hot wax. Body scrubs and treatments are done with exclusive Thai-sourced products.
