After more than 40 years in business, Michael Kluthe is a Toronto institution. In fact, a good chunk of his clientele has stuck with him since day one—which speaks volumes about the quality of the service. The salon’s bustling atmosphere, enormous size and army of staffers—13 stylists and 12 colour technicians, including famed colourist Lili Jakel—are testament to its continued popularity. In addition, the salon also offers such beauty treatments as facials, Brazilian waxes, manicures and makeup applications. And, apart from Kluthe and the odd staff member, there’s not a man in sight: this is a women-only salon. Cuts from $28; colour from $66; full highlights $150.
