Even after 10 years, it’s still a good-looking spot: polished concrete floor, sculptural but comfy Philippe Starck chairs, and a wall of rushing water pouring down a pane of amber-coloured glass. But it’s the blissfully attitude-free atmosphere that sets Langton apart from many in this industry. Cuts are au courant, but stylists are less concerned with copying the latest celebrity do than giving clients a flattering, easy-to-wear style. “We had a few clients asking for heavy fringes after Reese Witherspoon wore them at the 2007 Oscars, but now we’re doing longer, textured layers,” says stylist and colour technician John Farrauto. Ask for Monica if you’re in the market for extensions: she’ll take you from pixie to Rapunzel, without the damaging heat or glue (from $400). Cuts $65 to $100; blow-dry from $40; highlights from $100.
