This nostalgia-tinged kids’ emporium is the brainchild of designers Carolyn Murphy and Sara Fillmore. Named after their first-borns, their own labels—Baby Ben and Hankware, respectively—take pride of place in the store. But the pair also curate durable, affordable clothes from other local labels; most designs are for boys, and many have a retro vibe. That means bowling shirts from Kid Brother ($38) and cowboy-print bark cloth jackets with suede fringes by Baby Ben (from $79). Little firemen’s jackets by Hankware never fail to induce a smile from both kids and parents; Kid Brother organic cotton pants (from $39) are too cool for (nursery) school.
